About Us

Perry Broughton Trucking & Excavating, Inc. was founded by husband and wife Perry and Rachel A. Broughton in 1972. The business, in its early years, was based out of their Pawnee farm. John, Perry’s brother, joined the company in 1974 and, as the business grew, the company constructed a commercial building at 1227 W. Enos Avenue in Springfield.  In the intervening years, the company has acquired additional adjoining land to accommodate the company’s expansion.

Today, the Broughtons continue their quality performance in construction projects for the State of Illinois, the City of Springfield, and many surrounding municipalities, and developers through the competitive-bid process.

The Broughtons are also committed to community service and have been active in numerous civic and community organizations.  Rachel currently serves as a board member for The Greater Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Women in Leadership and Vachel Lindsay Association. Perry serves on the Sangamon County Extension Council.

Throughout the company’s history, the Broughtons have maintained a strong commitment to quality, a standard they achieve through hard work, determination and integrity.  They take pride in the roads and developments they have helped build, but also the firm foundation on which they have built their business.
